Why donate?
For those of us lucky enough to live, work and play in Lake Highlands, we know what a jewel we have – a small hometown in the middle of a big city. A place where Friday Night Lights, July 4th parades, Sundays in the Park, and Light Up Lake Highlands are a part of our DNA. Where kids return to raise their kids, newcomers are welcomed, and “loving your neighbor” is a way of life.
The purpose of this beloved community-wide event is to raise money to support our area schools and non-profits and provide college scholarships to Lake Highlands High School seniors. We are asking for your financial support which will directly impact and strengthen the Lake Highlands community. As a non-profit organization we keep operating expenses low so that over 90 percent of funds raised go back to the community.
Last year we raised nearly $200,000 which directly funded specific projects and services for 18 nonprofit organizations and 14 schools and provided college scholarships to 36 exceptional LHHS students. From supplies and technology upgrades at area schools to car seats for new mothers and summer reading initiatives at area libraries, we heard and proudly responded to a wide range of impactful opportunities.
This year we’ve set a goal of raising $205,000. With your support, we know we can reach this goal to help our Lake Highlands community continue to grow and thrive.
This year’s event features a tour of four iconic Lake Highlands homes and a Sip & Shop at the Kaycee Club featuring dozens of local businesses. New this year: we’re encouraging home tour participants to support our local restaurant community by dining out before, during or after the home tour.
